Seventh grader Rashi Patel entered her first regional competition as a MAMS student and left with a resume full of awards and honors. Her project “Stop Trash Talking and Start Trash Cleaning: The Effectiveness of Different Storm Drain Designs and the Development of the Most Effective Storm Drain Design in Keeping Water Unpolluted” earned overall 1st Place in the Chemical Science Division at the Capital Area Science and Engineering Fair (CASEF). After all the results were tabulated, Rashi learned that her project’s score was one of the top six scores in the entire Junior Division competition which put her in the running for the Junior Division Grand Champion. The final order of the top six finalists was later announced on ABC27’s Good Day PA and Rashi was named 2nd runner-up, or 3rd place in the entire competition. But Rashi’s award-winning didn’t stop there. In addition to place rankings, organizations sponsor other awards and honors for projects that meet specific qualifications related to their mission. Rashi increased her award list by being selected for six additional prestigious honors. Remember…this was her FIRST competition…and she’s only a SEVENTH grader! Remember Rashi…because we are going to see a lot more of her in the years to come. Rashi Patel’s Awards and Honors at CASEF:
