The 2019 Homecoming activities began on Friday evening, October 18, with the annual Alumni Dinner held at MAHS. On Saturday morning, October 19, the MAHS Future Business Leaders of America Club hosted an All-You-Can-Eat pancake breakfast. Activities continued downtown with the parade of class floats, marching bands, youth athletic teams, cheerleaders, the Honor Class of 1969, and the homecoming court, all led by Grand Marshall Don Graham.

Prior to the Blue Raiders kick-off at 2pm, the senior members of the football team, cheerleaders, Blue Wave Marching Band and video team were recognized at their final home game of the season. The Raider were first on the board with a TD in their first drive but the Panthers answered right back with 7 points of their own. The rest of the half was all Raiders with a halftime score of 21-7.

At the halftime Homecoming Queen ceremony, Marie Schopf selected the envelope containing the “unlucky” number 5 and had no choice but to pick up the final box of flowers that was left on the table. But just as has happened several times over the past few years, that final box held the lucky rose and Marie ended up being crowned the 2019 Homecoming Queen. Marie’s escort, Joey Spear, surprised everyone when he swept her off her feet and carried her to their waiting convertible for their ride around the grandstand.

Back on the field, the Blue Raiders continued their domination of East Pennsboro and defeated the Panthers with a 42-7 victory.
