Penn State Harrisburg Swim Coach, Holly Maitland-McKenna, met with the first graders at Reid Elementary to talk about her 32-hour swim to raise money for PSU Harrisburg’s THON. McKenna’s “SWIM for A CURE” is her 8th annual event and this year she is challenging herself to swim 32 hours straight instead of 24 hours as she has done in the past. McKenna live streams her swim and Mrs. Pronesti’s class tunes in and sends her cards of encouragement.
Friends and family bring her food and sometimes even hop in to join her for a swim!
During her swim, anyone can donate or cheer for her at the Penn State Harrisburg Aquatics Center in the Capitol Union Building during the following times:
Thursday, January 30, 10am - 10pm and Friday, January 31, 7am - 6pm
There will be NO guest entrance fees those 2 days! Simply sign in at lower desk in CUB. There is a $1 parking fee which is paid at a kiosk.
Friday, January 31st from 4pm to 6pm is FAMILY SWIM!
Each child swimmer must be accompanied by an adult swimmer.
Good luck, Coach McKenna!
