Students Complete HACC Program, Gain Skills to be Work-Ready
Eight MAHS seniors recently completed Middletown’s nurse aide program through Harrisburg Area Community College and were recognized at a pinning ceremony. This is the third year of the program, which is part of MASD’s Career Readiness Initiative.
Students Tyler Ackley, Prekshya Bhattarai, Jeremiah Garcia, Hennisee Gathers, Naima Griffin-Foster, Dona Ilunga, Reshma Rimal, and Ja’Liyah Stover started the program in early September and completed clinical work at the end of October. They had the opportunity to learn all the necessary skills and curriculum required to take their state examination, which will make them Certified Nurse Assistants (CNA). In collaboration with HACC, clinicals were completed at Messiah Lifeways in Mechanicsburg and allowed students to demonstrate the necessary knowledge and skills required for employment. The students can now work at any facility that requires the CNA certification, and in collaboration with Masonic Village, have the opportunity to begin their career.
Congratulations to all the students on this achievement, and best of luck in your next chapter!
MASD is also grateful to HACC for their continued partnership in fulfilling the MASD Vision of ensuring students graduate equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to thrive in a rapidly changing world.
